A visitor may find things here quite different from what he is used to, so this little folder briefly explains the ways and customs of the assembly.  Here, as in New Testament times, Christians gather to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ alone—not in the name of any denomination or system.  The Bible is taught as the Word of God.  There is no other authority.

The assembly is composed of born-again believers who gather to the name of the Lord Jesus.  No earthly membership roll is kept, for “The Lord Knoweth them that are His”.  As in the New Testament, the Christians are referred to as believers, saints, or brethren.  Those who are known to be born again may participate in the “breaking of bread” meeting, and in active teaching and preaching.

We believe in the salvation of the souls of individual men through repentance and belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for our sins.  Jesus Christ is accepted as Lord of our lives, to be obeyed in all things.  When a man is truly saved, God forgives his sins, gives him eternal life that is recognized by himself and others.  He is born again as a child of God and is a new creature.  He is justified and lives by faith, is required to obey, and able to pray and expect answers.

The affairs of the assembly are conducted by elders appointed and guided by the Holy Spirit.  There are no hired clergy.  No man is called “Reverend” or “Father”, since this was expressly forbidden by the Lord.  “But be not ye called Rabbi, for one is your Master, even Christ: and all ye are brethren.  And call no man your Father upon the earth; for one is your Father, which is in heaven.”  (Matthew 23:8 to 10).  Preachers, pastors, and teachers are raised up, taught, and guided by the Spirit.  This assembly keeps in touch with others who are like-minded, and cooperates in missionary work, conferences, and similar activities as the Lord leads.

Meetings are informal, with the believers in humbleness before God, and mature brethren speaking as led by the Holy Spirit.  Women are silent.
There are no processions or man-made ceremonies to appeal to the earthly senses.  There is , however, a strong sense of presence of God.  Meetings have no “down to the minute” starting or ending times.  The doors are open at the announced time, but there is usually a quiet period for prayer and meditation while the saints gather.  Actual starting time is at the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Our Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be God’s inspired Word, our final authority in faith and in practice.

We believe in the Trinity; God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, that he was buried and rose again, and sits as our great High Priest.

We believe in the personal premillenial and imminent return of Christ from Heaven.

We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit that he indwells all believers.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in heaven, and the everlasting misery of the lost in hell.

We believe the Church of the Body of Christ, composed of all true believers, and that God recognizes no denominational differences.

We believe it to be important that the Gospel of Christ be preached to “every person”.
